Neccessary Noise

As a first step into composing for film and television Ralf Cassidy Bindels was asked to compose the music for “Stern TV”; a weekly news magazine on German Television in 1991.  This was a tall order for a junior composer; however, he rose to the occasion and in 1992 received a German Film Award for his music to a short film named “Veraenderungen”.

He had found his calling…

The truly evolutionary moment came in Ralf’s career after his move to Canada.

Following the new studio set-up, language change, some electronica projects and remixes he was approached to compose the soundtrack for “Fade to Black”, a feature film directed by Rohan Fernando. It became clear that Cassidy Bindels had a true talent for film composing as he was able to combine his electronic past with more organic sounds and instruments needed for film.

Today Ralf is an accomplished composer for television, multimedia and film.

One of his latest movies “The Backup Man” was released in movie theatres across Canada and had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. His work with music has earned nothing but praise from moviegoers and production teams alike.

Testimonials

“ Ralf is a first-class musician and composer with great style. He composed and performed an amazing sound track for our feature movie, The Backup Man, which will be released across Canada in 2007/2008. The music track is a subtle mix of European and North American sounds." Nicholas Kinsey, Cinegraphe Productions

“ Composing music for film is an enormously difficult discipline -

Ralf has a gift not only for composition but an innate understanding of how music enhances a story, not just complements it. That, and he’s terrific to work with."

Doug Sutherland, Writer/Film Director

“ Ralf  brought my film to life! He is a brilliant musician and composer.

He sees the big picture…and knows how to capture the depth and emotion that a film requires in order to be successful. He takes direction exceptionally well. I will definitely work with him in the future." Cayman Grant, Kiap Films

“ This is the second project I’ve worked with Ralf on, and probably far from the last.

I’ve worked with a lot of musicians for various soundtracks, and non come close to the level of professionalism as Ralf does. Not only is there a quick turnaround, but the quality and truly unique sound is second to none." Fox Henderson, Bureau 51

“ I needed a soundtrack for a highlights video, done quickly, with a lot of guidelines.

None of the tracks I was hearing were what I was looking for to hold this video together.

Ralf began to create a track, he was very directable and the quality of his music was excellent, his final product was very fitting for my video.”
